Manhattan
A timeless and elegant whiskey cocktail, combining rye or bourbon with sweet vermouth and bitters, typically garnished with a cherry.

Ingredients
- Rye Whiskey (or Bourbon) 2 oz (60ml)
- Sweet Vermouth 1 oz (30ml)
- Angostura Bitters 2 dashes
- Ice As needed
- Maraschino Cherry For garnish
Instructions
- Fill a mixing glass with ice.
- Add whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters.
- Stir well for about 30 seconds.
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

The Manhattan is believed to have been created in the early 1880s at the Manhattan Club in New York City for a banquet hosted by Lady Randolph Churchill, mother of Winston Churchill. Over time, it became one of the most iconic classic cocktails, known for its strong yet balanced flavor profile. It remains a staple in cocktail bars worldwide.
