History & Origins
The Macunaíma cocktail was created in São Paulo, Brazil, at Boca de Ouro bar. Named after the famous Brazilian literary character from Mário de Andrade’s 1928 novel, the drink represents Brazilian identity by blending cachaça with Fernet, a bitter Italian liqueur. The combination creates a complex yet balanced cocktail that has gained popularity in Brazil’s craft cocktail scene.
