History & Origins

The Espresso Martini was created in 1983 by legendary bartender Dick Bradsell at the Soho Brasserie in London. The story goes that a young model, now believed to be Kate Moss, asked for a drink that would "wake me up and f**k me up." Bradsell combined vodka with fresh espresso and coffee liqueur, creating what was initially called the Vodka Espresso. The drink was later renamed to Espresso Martini and became a symbol of London's cocktail renaissance in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
